super late comment is so late because i'm terrible
working on wood sounds really difficult but holy jesus the varying shades and shapes of the wood peices here are so interesting and the patterns are crazy. i really love how adventurous you are with using different mediums, i feel like you're one of those people if given some random object or tools you could make art out of it. also the way you draw your characters is just great, i love how loose your style is to where all the characters are so different but i can still tell they're yours.

thanks! it's ... pretty unwieldly, i'll admit. i've had a lot of practice over the years (first just burning names into wood nametags for kids at the summer camp i worked at..) and i did a really big-ass woodburning last year that took forever but i still find it really hard to make details and curved lines because of the chisel tip? everything ends up very straight-liney. i know there are other tips you can buy but i dont have any but the default chisel one ahaha. its a lot easier to do on old nasty scrapwood than a nice new piece, so i've just found out

That reminds me, I could just buy pieces of wood at stores like Home Depot... I recently got a solid pine board for a triptych project for my mother for Christmas and that was on the more expensive side of things, about $40, but it would make a nice canvas indeed for this sort of thing.

If you ever have the inkling, I saw a nice, big slat of plywood for just $10 there too. You could cut that into 4 strips with a circular saw and have a handful of nice, cheap, straight canvases! Although I'm also not one to pass up a few free art supplies!
